- Inner Geographies: Student presentation and 500 word draft Artist Statement
The concept of New Cartographies: Inner Geographies: it was my partner and I who made memories of our childhood trips abstract and sketched them on paper with a stylus. Before I made it, I thought about some memorable people and things from my childhood, and I also asked about my partner’s story. My idea is to draw as many roads as possible from the memory, or to draw the house on paper. Because I can make the road meander so it looks more like a map, and the house matches and enriches my map with some of the objects in my memory. In my recollections with my friends, I have drawn highways, tall buildings, trees, and what she describes as a roller coaster or a birdhouse. I want my work to be as rich as possible, so that people who see my work can feel that it has a story, not an emptiness, and not a clutter, but a beauty.
I added the abstract art I learned in the studio to this piece, using the body and simplifying my images. I don’t paint as realistically, or as beautifully, as I used to. I chose how to simplify and blend colors to create and practice. It’s a skill I learned in the studio.
Reading and seeing a lot of the artists’work, from the beginning to the conception to the final product, helps me to strengthen my project. When I’m not inspired or I don’t know how to create, I need to see some artists and see how they create, so I can imitate and practice. Learn how to create projects.
The work involves taking a trip back to childhood and listening to the stories of others, so that you can get a sense of the emotional, spiritual past of the other person or me. When you’re traveling, you’re participating in the old society. Because in this memory is including the close person, perhaps is the stranger. Emotion is derived from the nostalgia of childhood and the kind of carefree happy memories. There may also be other feelings, because the process of life is hot and sour salty sweet have.
Aesthetic thought verb, to identify and appreciate the beauty of things. Aesthetic thought is a special form in which man grasps the world. It means that man and the world (society and nature) form a kind of relationship state without utility, image and emotion. The first thing to do is to define what beauty is. Beauty is all things that can make people feel happy. It includes objective existence and subjective existence. Secondly, we should make it clear that examination is a process in which people judge the beauty and ugliness of all things. Thus, aesthetic is a subjective process of psychological activities, is based on their own requirements of something to make a view of things. From a philosophical point of view, aesthetics is a good proof of the opposition and unity of things. The opposition of aesthetics is obvious, which is embodied in his individuality, and the unity of aesthetics is manifested through the effect of objective factors on people’s psychology, that is, the environment in which people live in each era or stage, it has more or less an impact on people’s aesthetic. As the aesthetic is a subjective activity, many people will think that the aesthetic is only a special human behavior. Including architecture, music, dance, clothing, pottery, food, decoration, painting and so on. Aesthetics exist in every corner of our life. Walking on the road, the street scenery needs us to aesthetic; sitting in a restaurant, a variety of dishes need us to aesthetic. Beauty is the subjective feeling aroused by the objective attribute and function of things to promote harmonious development, and it is the concrete unity of the objective reality and the subjective feeling. The aesthetic pursuit of man lies in improving his spiritual realm, promoting and realizing his development. It can represent a person’s preferences and pursuits and so on. So I think it’s very important for everyone.
