1. first draw a grid pattern over your reference photo, then put a corresponding grid on your large paper. Turn both upside-down. Start transferring the shapes from your reference photo onto the paper. Do not name, trust instead the visual information.
2. Then make your real arm, hand, and foot darker, using flatter tone, creating much crisper edges. Try making the sleeve solid black. Making sure the shapes are exactly the same as in your reference photo.
3. Dissolve the lines into tonal areas in the hand and reflected hand and foot.
4. Put your drawing and your reference photo right side up. Squint at the whole thing. Make sure the values get progressively lighter and the edges get softer and blurry as the figure recedes in space. Use an eraser to lighten and soften the shapes of the head and the room
